About

In the spring of 2000, director Johann VanIttersum and pianist Elise Joosse formally organized Musica Sacra Chorus and began rehearsing with some 20 singers. Shortly after that, organist James van den Brink joined this team of musicians.

MSC is now made up of some 50 voices under the direction of Johann Van Ittersum. With the chorus' pianist, Stephanie MacDonald, and organist Kevin Marcy, it works to make magnificent music to God's glory. Most singers live in the County of Oxford, or its surrounding towns and villages; some live as far away as Brantford, Strathroy, Port Dover, and Beamsville. MSC performs a wide variety of repertoire, ranging from psalm settings, sacred anthems and oratorios, and spirituals. The chorus practices weekly from September through May at Norwich United Church and performs in its neighbouring communities and beyond.
